Nuevas aventuras a la vista...

En unas horas me mudo a vivir a Alemania (vamos, que estoy ya con un pie en la puerta de embarque). Toca empezar una nueva etapa en Darmstadt, a 30km al sur de Frankfurt, donde voy a estar un par de años trabajando en la universidad. Y es que hace demasiado tiempo que no paso por aquí... ¡y tantas cosas han cambiado desde que os escribí la última vez!

Desde mi último post...

he currado mucho,



he hecho alguna que otra escapadilla viajera (no todo iba a ser currar),





me he pasado muchas horas con el culo sentado a la silla escribiendo mi tesis,

he terminado mi trabajo en Irlanda y celebrado el fin de esta etapa tan bonita en Galway,



me he mudado temporalmente a España y ahora estoy de nuevo con las maletas cargadas para empezar una nueva vida.



Las despedidas siempre son agridulces y es que cojo esta nueva aventura con muchas ganas e ilusión, pero también con un poco de nervios. Sé que voy a echar de menos a mi familia y amigos de Castellón, pero también la que ha sido mi "familia" en Galway durante los últimos 6 años. Para todos los de aquí y los de allí (y otros tantos lugares del mundo), aquí os dejo un trocito de mi tesis: los agradecimientos. Tendréis que practicar vuestro inglés, valenciano y castellano ;) (no os pongáis melancólicos, que ya me pongo yo...)

During the course of my Ph.D. and my stay in Galway, many people have helped and supported me. I would like to thank you all because without you I would not have come this far.

I feel very lucky to have had the chance to work in such a wonderful place, full of amazing people. Thanks to all of you for balancing out the science with so many good memories. I will miss playing tag rugby with Scrummy Bears/George, the College Bar, our Christmas parties, morning tea breaks and ice cream breaks after long lab meetings.

Special thanks go to the ‘oldies’ Emma, Carla and Louise. Thanks for all your support and advice in and outside the lab. Special mention goes to Louise for being the first one reading this book! I would also like to express huge gratitude to John. Thank you for your advice and guidance, your infinite patience and for sharing your passion for science with all of us.

To my family, thank you for believing in me and supporting me even when that meant having me miles away. Moltes gràcies mamà, papà i Anni per estar sempre al meu costat encara que estiguérem lluny. Gràcies als tres i a tota la resta pel vostre suport i per estar orgullosos de mi.

I cannot forget my Spanish girls. Thanks for all your support at the best and hardest times. You made me feel that Galway was my home. I won’t forget our family meals, Saint Patrick’s, coffee afternoons and trips together. Gracias, Antonias. Por muchos más años juntas, aunque sea en la distancia.

Special thanks go to Clara, my housemate for the last two years, you are like a sister to me. Moltes gràcies Clareta per tot el que hem viscut juntes. Trobaré a faltar les nostres nits vegent ‘Vikings’, les nostres classes de ioga, i totes els riures i bons moments que hem passat en la nostra caseta.

To my friends in Spain and further, Leire, Espe, Bárbara, Pilar and all the others!, thank you for encouraging me from the start. I can’t wait to share more sunny afternoons by the beach, in Castellón o wherever in the world you may be.

Finally, to Claas, thank you for being by my side on this journey. For all your unconditional support, love and understanding even at my most stressy/silly times. I’m excited for all the new adventures I will get to share with you, in Ireland or wherever life will take us.

My stay in Galway has marked me forever. I won’t forget all those (many) rainy afternoons, the colourful houses and magic atmosphere. But I will especially remember my time here for all the wonderful friendships that I have made.
